A Laundry Hack? …please tell me more!
I just love how my family always hangs up all of their clothes said No Mom ever! It’s one thing if you’re hanging up your children’s clothes but the hubby’s clothes too?
But then without even trying, I accidentally got my husband to hang up his clothes. Seriously, there was no crying, begging or threatening. I made one purchase that would totally change this one chore to hang up clothes.
My hubs is a “stacker”. He lays things in neat little piles. But he’ll have piles of these neat little stacks everywhere. And he would know if I moved one or reorganized it. He didn’t just hang up clothes.
His clothes piles were in various parts of the bedroom. Pants pile, shirt pile and uniform piles were always at the foot of the bed.
I realize there are households that everyone pitches in, divides up the chores and that’s how things work at their place. Here at my house, we are more loosie-goosie about who does what and when.
My guy loves to vacuum. He’d probably be mortified if his coworkers found out. And I prefer to be the one to load the dishwasher because I’m weirdly territorial over it.
Any who-who, one day I found this cute little coat rack on clearance and bought it, although I cannot for the life of me remember what I paid for it but that I had to have it!
The hubs got it assembled and we put it in our bedroom. This was something I had not intended to do though. But for now, I thought I’d just leave it there until I decided where it would go. It looks like this one
It was pointed out to me, that we had a coat closet right there by our front door and having a coat rack there too didn’t make sense. Well, I bought that thing for next to nothing , did it have to make sense too?
The coat rack’s new home was our bedroom. Ridiculous, because all of our coats were downstairs. But fine, I moved on without giving the coat rack another thought.
Here is where I began to notice something: there were clothes hung up on it! Not mine, but my husband started hanging up his uniform on it. Then his favorite pair of jeans had their own spot.
Soon, other frequently worn items found their way to a hook. This chore hack was amazing!
My darling husband had decided he really liked the convenience of hanging his clothes on this coat rack. He was able to throw his stuff on a hook and know it wouldn’t disappear. His favorite shirt would be right where he left it.
So, the pile loving man of mine has gone from being oblivious about where he dropped his clothes to Mr. Organized. And believe me, this isn’t something I planned too do but dang I‘m glad it happened.
It’s been so far so good with this chore hack using a coat rack instead of hangars. I’m considering another one for me. In fact, why stop there, this could actually be the push I need to get more organized. Well, almost!
